Ah, February – the month of love and all things cheesy.

It’s hard to escape the commerciality of this time of year. Yet, even amidst the commercial spending, there is something undeniably special about the gifts we receive. Whether it’s a home made Valentine from our children or a last-minute bouquet of roses with the grocery store sticker still intact, we cherish these gestures of love from our family and friends.

As we immerse ourselves in the focus on love during February, it’s important to question what happens when the store shelves are no long lined with overstuffed bears and cheap chocolate. While we certainly love and prioritize others in our lives, what about loving ourselves? Sometimes, we need to place ourselves first, and contrary to some people’s beliefs, this isn’t selfish at all. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Loving ourselves is putting on our oxygen mask first, so we may better take care of our loved ones. Loving ourselves means recognizing when we need a little help. It means realizing that we, too, deserve care and attention.

In today’s fast-paced world, most adults – especially moms – find themselves struggling with an overwhelming amount of daily responsibilities.

Americans typically work at least 40 hours a week, yet that is almost never our only commitment. It’s time to ask ourselves: Am I doing too much? Rather than attempting to do it all, delegating out mundane tasks can be a life saver!

Maybe we don’t really have the time to do everything. Maybe that means picking up pizza on your way home from your favorite hobby instead of cooking dinner. With only so many hours in a day, you simply cannot do everything, so love yourself by removing the things you hate doing, like laundry. It’ll save your precious time.

You need to ask yourself if you are spending your energy doing things that lift you up, or tear you down. While it’s understandable that everyone has to perform certain tedious, everyday, activities like brushing your teeth, we should assess whether the hours upon hours spent folding piles of laundry are genuinely worth it. When we prioritize our time, we free up space for things that truly bring us joy. Like roller-skating with our friends.

Never feel bad about asking for help!

Sometimes, we all need a little helping hand. We may feel like superheroes on certain weeks, but the reality is that we are only human. Help can come in all different forms – whether it’s hiring a pool cleaning service or subbing out laundry services like DriFold Laundry Service to take care of our never-ending pile of clothes.

Remember, there’s often a solution out there if we’re willing to seek it.

As February passes, its a wonderful time to reflect on whether you are showing yourself some much needed love. Take the time to asses your own needs and desires. Self-love and self-care shouldn’t be confined to a single month. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to prioritize ourselves throughout the year! And remember, help is just a click away…
